Help me with my starter issue, W123
Hey, new here. I've got an 84 300TD w/ 230k, still runs great.
The other day it wouldn't start, just clicked when I hit the key, like a dead battery, but it wasn't. With the ignition ON, I can use a jumper wire and feed voltage to the starter solinoid wire that is on the terminal strip on the passengerside strut tower and the car will crank and run. Obviously, I'm not getting voltage from my switch. Is there a relay or anything between my switch and solinoid? Anyone know which wire coming out of my switch is my starter wire? Anyone have a pdf of the service manual? |

Sounds like a bad connection or bad switch.

Agreed. You can remove and clean the guts of the electronic part of the switch, or I think you can replace it.
Starter delay in cold weather.........???

First thing I would do is check grounds on the battery, starter and engine to chassis strap.
