Changed Vacuum Pump today

After reading all about the possibility of bearing failures of the "old" style 602/603 pumps, I decided to pro actively change the pump. I think it was not a day too soon. One of the two bearings had 2 balls right next to each other. The basket that was spacing the balls was failing!
Oh, and never forget to take out the allen wrench from the fan before you start the engine!! :=) Don't ask ............

Excellent save.

WE all have done things like leaving an allen on the fan when starting up....dumb luck saves us when all else fails.

Good plan, this is one of those cases where a little preventative maintenance can save you a world of hurt.

Or how about leaving the chuck key in the chuck of a Bridgeport mill! Punched a clean hole in the sheetrock on the other side of the shop some twenty feet away.
