Concur with diesel|911. When I got Gray Ghost both outer rear boots were split, flunking MD inspection. After a bunch of internet and phone calls, I got a pair of reman's with new boots for $86 each at my local CarQuest (took the old ones).

The fun came later when I put them in over several nights on my back, car on stands, Haynes manual all greased up, having to make a puller, etc. That was 55K miles ago, I think.

Good luck.

That's just plain too cheap. But I assume that they are still working for you. I wonder if they still sell them for that price, but assume that my 210 axles aren't in the same category.

The closest Advanced Auto parts (westren autoparts) to me is 176 miles away.
Sent the same info (brand and part number) for those $88-$89 NEW axles to Parts America customer service to day 10-01-07 I hope they will take the time and answer.

GSP NCV 48998 for $88

Sorry, I had not been on the forum for a few days....

But you can get NEW, lifetime warranty axles thru Advance Auto locally or Parts AMerica online. Its a GSP NCV 48998 for $88 ea. You have to ask them to look at their parts book as they can't seem to pull it up on their computer.

I researched this a bit b4 the purchase. Autozone also sells new axles for a bit more but I liked the response from GSP better.

I haven't installed them yet as theres no urgency right now but I'll probably do it this winter. They seem to be holding up well per the other member who put them in a while back whose thread is posted in a link above.

After changing my ATF and rear diff fluid today, I noticed my rear boots were pretty worn and cracking. I was doing some research on the forums, and actually found the NEW axles even cheaper than what was mentioned above and on another thread.

http://********.com/dbphp/mfr,GSP,Drivetrain,2288,CV%2BHalf%2BShaft%2BAssembly

Does this seem like the correct part? I obtained the part information from this thread:

Advance Auto in you Area? NEW Axles = $90

Can anyone confirm? If this is correct, than it would be only $70 shipped if you ordered a set.

Read the fine print CAREFULLY! That Cardone axle is not NEW, its remanfactured. Sure its a good price, but not if you have to do the job twice.

Thank you, I'll stick with CVJ.

CVJ axles are the only remanufactured axles I would trust.

That is pretty good. What happened to the old boot and how did the new boot get positioned in place?

$35 per axle from my pull a part. Why bother with new ones or boots?

Last one I needed I got from potomac german- $175 for a new axle, normally $225+ but they gave me the reman price since they were out of those. I had originally bought a boot kit before finding out we didnt have the correct tool for the metal cans, so I priced one- it was $2300.
