w126 tach in a w123?

Okay, in my quest for a tach in my euro 300TD (and I've gotten some good advise from my other thread: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/200385-gasser-tach-diesel.html), I accidentally bought a gauge cluster for a 300sd w126 body (I think an '81). The guy said he'll refund my money if I don't want it since he mistakenly advertised it for a 300D.

I realise the cluster itself may not fit in my TD, but I was wondering if I took the tach/clock out of the cluster, would it fit in my cluster? Anyone know for sure?

If noone knows, I'll just buy it and if it doesn't fit, I'll have a w126 gauge cluster for sale :)

Thanks for the help,
-Geoff

The gauge itself should be able to bolt in to your cluster, just make sure it has the correct plug in, in the back.

Oh good, that's what I was hoping for. IIts an early gauge so I think it's the two prong connector...doesn't really matter either way, I need the wire that goes from the gauge to the amp too :)

Thanks,
-Geoff

That will be the trick, good luck.
