Leak - Cause for concern? (84 300D)

In the photo below, is this leak and the condition of the pipe/insulation (cracking) cause for concern? Car is an 84 300DT with 163,000 miles.

Oh, I don't know

It doesn't look very serious, but it is a continual mess on the top of that engine. On my engines, I don't like a mess like that and I tend to replace cheap little items like that as soon as they go bad. I'd say, get it fixed.

Its no issue, but if you want you can buy the alternative kind of hose. Only **************.com sells it as far as I know.

Its called a "breather hose" and is about $19 on their site. It doesn't leak like the old style. Its all one piece. Much better design. Up to you though, it doesn't matter if you leave it that way.

But, as usual, they charge about 2x what it is worth. LINK, you should avoid MercedeSource completely.

************** is expensive, yet I have purchased a number of items from him, and I have not found that hose anywhere else.
