Usually, companies don't hold their bad investment for 8 years before dumping it. A year or two is more the norm, which is probably just about the length of time to exonnerate the execs that made it from having responsibility pinned on them.

They do seem to have given it a valiant effort, but Chrysler was probably too big to bend.

Chrysler and to a great degree the other 'medium 2' marketed to a much different part of the automotive buying spectra from where MB was pointed. Neither side seemed to desire to make any real changes, much like the red team and green team failure of the Pennsylvania & New York Central RR's during the Penn Central merger.

It is also unfortunate that so few here recognize the Engineering and Styling strengths of Chrysler during the 50's and 60's let alone back to the 30's. Agreed, they have fallen a great deal since those glory days.

Wouldn't surprise me, it was the old SLK with some different body panals. But it was an SLK, a MB dealer most certainly could work on them.

May be now they will stop trying to be everything to everybody and get back to making quality premium vehicles.....my 2 cents........
Correct. Remember the W210 came out in 1995 years before Chrysler was even talked about at MB. They had huge problems and were trying to fix them with Chrysler.

Chrysler had zero impact on MB design and quality. If you understand the mentality of the German engineers you would see why.

Two things quicker than a hot car at 4.8 seconds from 0-60. a police radio and a 38 police special pistol.
