ID'ing a California emission equipped 300CD?
I need help ID'ing the car I'm looking into buying. I want to know if it's equipped with California emission equipment. What is different about this setup? How can I determine by pictures of engine bay? Do I need VIN? It's a 1982 300CD Turbo model and very well cared for. Currently, it's in the New England area, but it's stated to be originally from Cali. Thanks in advance for your help!

For cars made in 1983 and earlier emissions are no different in California.
For 84-85 cars, the difference of a Kalifornia car will be obvious once you open the hood. The first picture is a normal 300, on the right is a 300D infected with California emissions. |
