My wife has done some upholstery work on MBs while she worked at an indy shop here in SA. The owner can get MBTex $$$$ or an alternative $ and recover seats. He can also redo headliners and dashboards (they look very very nice, but not original). I think the real problem is for the puritans among us who want stock appearance (includes me 'till my seat rips open and my headliner falls completely down). I agree that the numbers of pure stock w1xx's will fade like other classics of days gone by. (Most Model A's on the road are only a facsimile of stock - interior and exterior has been redone with modern parts). But if you don't mind a bit of a variation from stock, a local upholstery shop is a cost effective alternative to finding an unblemished right front seat from Germany or Eastern Europe!

Are they worth reupholsterng?

FYI, the PO that sold me the wagon paid $400 for new seats a few years back. They're nice leather ones.

Like anything, it depends on how long you plan on keeping it. The longer the time you plan on keeping it, the more getting the work done is worth it.
