W123 Seats

I am quite tired of searching for a set of good used palomino seats for my 82 wagon.
Pretty much given up.
So much effort and time has been spent on my mechanics and the exterior look of my car, but my interior is still crap and I am tired of it.
I guess I will have to resort to seat covers as I don't want to spend close to a thousand for the replacements.
Does anyone know of any good quality, or decent looking, long lasting, don't look like $#%& covers? Not into the sheep skin look.
Thanks..
I will also need them for the bench seat.

I have at least one palamino front seat left. I would have to check to see the condition of it. I am not sure if left or right. I think it is a drivers seat.

Are you sure that "palomino" is the correct name of your interior color?

I thought that is what mine was until I went to the dealer to buy a part. They said there was no such interior color for a 1982. It turned out that my color is "date."

I would advertise on our parts wanted area. There were a few being parted out about six months ago I remember. For all you know one of them might have a good original interior at a fair price.

126 front seats will work also, you may need to change out the tracks.

Not all seats are the same.....

....there are three different style w123 front seats.

Early, up to around 79, have a pinpoint grain, not leather grain, and pleats have a different heat seam. Also "elephant ear" headrests.

Second series, 80 on up have leather grain single width pleat heat seam, and a flat headrest top, and no scallops on rear of seat.

Late series, started in 82 or 83, had seatback scalloped out for more legroom, and the attachment for the parcel nets changed. Grain and headrest the same.

All interchange, however.

I am in McKinney. North of Dallas. I am pretty sure it is Palomino. I have seen those on ebay however need backs also. At this point in my searches, I would take seat covers for all. (I have posted in wanted items on all popular sites). Has anyone used any covers that have worked well? Any name brands out there?

McKinney, the county seat of Collin County. I live near Greenville Tx. I went to McKinney HS in '82-'83 for the Auto Mechanics co-op class. I have yet to find a yard in Collin or Hunt county that has and older MB cars.

Go talk to JR at Arnolds over on hwy 5. There's also Leo's on N.Tennesee st.

The ebay seller "cypok" won't return answers to all my questions sent otherwise, he has the best price.

There is a old guy in Sherman on Houston st just west of the square that does excellent work (Ron Cathey?). It's real hard to catch him though.

Interior parts will be the death of these old MBs. To completely re-do one cost more than the car is worth. Esp if it needs a headliner as well.
Good dash, console, trim parts are getting scarce.
I think thats why most of the cars out there will become beaters and die a premature death.

I need seats for my "120K mile, rust free" W116 SD. Gonna have to sell another car just to fund the project.

Still cheaper than a monthly car payment, as long as you own and drive the car.

Check your VIN at the russian site. Doubtful it is palamino.

Your best bet for cost effective? Talk to a few local upholstery shops that do auto and boat trim. A few years back I had one give me an estimate for completely recovering the front and back seats in a car with vinyl for a little under $600. Repair and bolstering of the foam was included. Wasn't original style, but it was a good colour match, and it would be better than even the "best" seat cover.
