How many old diesel daily drivers here?
Who use a 617 powered 116, 123 or 126 as their daily driver?
I'm finding it hard to desire anything else but, they are getting pretty worn nowdays. |

I do
I put on about 50 miles a day during the week, use it on week ends also since it is so much easier to park when shopping or going any place where one has to park. The Lincoln stays in the garage pretty much all the time except for vacation. This is the last winter I will be driving the 85 as it has extensive rust and Goldie is in the garage waiting for that promised 617 transplant. Goldie's transmission is shot and I am going to do the thing right, I hope, by pulling engine and transmission from the 85 and putting it in the 84. I just did a compression check on the 85's engine and it was 410/420 on all five. We did a compression check on the 84 last spring and we had two holes that were about 325. Maybe it just needs a valve job, but I only need one 300 D turbo, but I want it nice and has to run like a top, (or like a Mercedes). Goldie's interior is sun burned pretty bad in the front seats, and I plan to switch the trim also, but not the headlinner. Does anyone have any advice on switching the wind lace from one car to another. I hope to be able to switch that also.

I'm getting pretty old now, so yes, I am an old diesel daily driver.

I just bought a '78 240d and plan on it being my daily driver. 64 miles round trip every day!

Right here, when not on the Motorrad.
On bad wintery days, the Lumina takes the brunt, but those days are few. |
