not really just new to cars especially benzos and diesels in general i was wondering where exactly i would find the mono valve in a 79 300d i tried to look in my books one haynes the other a chilton the chilton sucks cause it is not for only models of the diesel type but regular gas engines im not so sure where i would look in the book as well but there is no mention of it in the master index in the back of it if any one might pehaps have i diagram on where it would be located i can only find a repair kit so ican match any pictures to the parts in my car like i said im an idiot

A 79 does not have a monovalve. It has the evil servo.

No monovalve in the 79 (I think). I believe you have the dreaded ACC servo.

if you cant find the monovalve on the passenger side firewall, (since it may not have it), look down below the alternator. if you have the acc servo, you will see your heater hoses running to it there.

why are you needing to find the monovalve? no heat?

the heater control pump stays on when the car is turned off the ac does not turn on could be freon but the rotor dial does not change temp when you move it
i have unplugged wire from the heater pump and now have no way change heat settings
somebody suggested i start there instead of replacing the climate control computer

Do a search on ACC Servo here and you should find a picture. It's on the passenger inner fender just above a auxilliary coolant pump. It's a large item with heater hoses going into the bottom and a rectangular top with lots of vacuum and electric wires going into it.
Sacrifice three goats and a newborn newt, walk around the car three times and touch the servo at top center. This technique will probably be as effective as any repair procedure on the beast.

is there any suggestions on where to start on this beast of a project. at least it sounds like it going to be one what exactly am i checking for in the malfunction dept.

You don't usually have to check for a malfunction. It is just assumed that they all just malfunction.......
You need to either spend about $600 bucks for a replacement (either aluminum base type or electronic upgrade kit), or search for "Evil Servo" and look for a bypass procedure.
Either way, it isn't gonna be too much fun. It was a very problematic system. The plastic housing cracks, allows antifreeze/coolant into the electronics, and you can imagine the rest.
