just got the second one out and cleaned up; taking a break.

The good news is that the sill lips are not rusty. Sprayed them with some lubricant and hope they stay that way till I have to do this again.

Thanks again. The proof is in the pudding; hope the rain stays on the outside after this.

done

Of course the rain is here. Have to leave it out of the weather for 24 hours, according to the sealant instructions. Overgooped and have to do some cleanup tomorrow when it dries up a bit.

I priced the gasket, a bit much, so I decided to remove and repair. The old rubber seems fine, surprising, maybe doesn't get as much direct sun as front and rear.

Once again, mercedesshop pays for itself Thanks again to Chad for the help. I'll report the results in a couple months.

Did you ever have to follow the whiz kid's class presentation in school, with bells and whistles and lights and moving parts? When all you had was a couple pieces of cardboard with pics glued on?

Chad's pics and process can't really be improved on. I did NOT take the metal off the rubber. With a bit of care, you can get the glass into the rigid side and pull the bottom around the last corners. I also did not put the glazer's rope in the bottom, I gooped the channel, then put the glass in, then put the assembly back in the car. Got goop on my gloves, then on the paint and trim and glass.....not a kodak moment. WOn't be finished cleanup till tomorrow!

I am a bit more of a hack than Chad, and had no plans to do this clean and neat as he did, since this is my daily driver. I was actually tempted to just run a bead like I did my windshield, but I knew how easily the window comes out, and I have had a glass guy run a bead there before to little good.
