Fuel Filter Washer

I noticed that the fuel return lines were brittle and cracked last week. Actually broke on while changing glowplugs.

So I ordered new hose from ******** AZ, and thought, might as well order new filters too. So I'll be changing those soon.

My question is regarding the copper crush washer. Where can I find one, do I need one, etc? ******** AZ didn't have one on their site that I could find.

What else do I need? I have both filters, an O ring (which I think goes in the spin on filter?), and some beer.

I replaced my fuel filter and didn't get a new crush washer, it ended up leaking. That said... my brother's W123 fuel filter does not have the crush washer and it doesn't leak.

I also purchased mine from the dealer.

I took mine to the local hardware store, and got a composite washer (it's gray/green in color, and the #30 was on the bag, size maybe?) of the same Inside Diameter and thickness, around a buck, as I recall, hasn't leaked yet. If you purchase from here http://**************.com the filter comes with a copper washer, but you'll pay a price. Not all filters need that washer.

Thanks for the link, though I already bought the filters, Bosch. Does anyone know which filters require the washer?

I suppose I'll just need to see if there is one on there already, and if so, take it to the hardware/dealership and find a similar size.

My '82 240 needed the washer, my '82 300 turbo did not, neither of my current cars need it.

Many auto parts places carry the copper washers. However, you need to ask for "brake system" washers or they probably won't know what you are talking about.

Taking some emery cloth to the washer and just flattening it out again getting rid of any birrs or grooves helped mine reseal on my 123 when I did the filters.

If the washer sits between the bolt and the spin-on filter, I need one because I can see that one is there already. My filters are fairly clean still, just planning ahead. Thanks.
