What's the thing hanging off the block side of the IP with the wire coming out unique to the 85?

Rack position sensor. It's only used for the EGR computer. Put a BB in the EGR's vacuum tube and forget bout it.

It gets in the way to the IP mounting bolt below. The one at the back lower bracket is hard enough to get to...
The 85 617 is a vacuum line mess. BTW, This would be on the 300SD is just picked up. Black/grey, 177K miles. This weekend I'm doing a valve adjust and checking chain stretch, ip timing, fluids/filters... It looks like I'll be doing guide rod bushings and brakes. Otherwise, she's in good shape.
