83 300SD door moulding

Can anyone describe the correct procedure for removing the outside lower door moulding? The car has two rust spots that require work. One thread describes removing a screw hidden in the weatherstripping and then "thwacking" the moulding forward. Directions to links or pics appreciated.

My CD-ROM service manual is on its way.

Thanks.
John

I had the misfortune of having my drivers one get pulled off once and here is what I found. While looking at the door, the lowest corner toward the rear has a clip that has a nut on the inside of the door and a hook at the front of the door. The metal strip has a hook at the back and nut at the front. This is all from memory but I think it is correct. So to remove, pull the door trim panel and water shield, locate the nut for the metal strip at the front of the door and remove it. The strip can be pulled away at the front and unhooked in the rear. The opposite is true for the big plastic piece. Once the metal strip is gone, remove the nut at the lower rear corner and pull it off the door and unhook it from the front. There is a row of raspberry clips along the top and bottom of the big plastic piece but not the metal strip. Clear as mud? Good luck.

Is this the same for an 85 300SD?

I need to do the same thing on my 85 SD--was about to post this afternoon after searching the forum. Anyone else have any insight about how to remove the lower door plastic? Has anyone done so recently?

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks. I should be receiving the shop manual CD-ROMS in a couple of days and this issue will hopefully be addressed. I'll let you know.
