300SD Injectors - 82 Turbo

I had my injectors cleaned and tested - 4 of the 5 are bad - spray pattern... And I assume this was after cleaning.

Question: Should I have the Bosch Repair Center find and replace the nozzles and rebuild the injectors or should I buy them from this site for $50?

I am still waiting for a price from the shop for everything....

Thanks

Geoff

I have five that came out of my '82 300 turbo, they were checked, OK, but I replaced the nozzles anyway. PM me if you're interested.

The shop came back with a price quote of $560 to rebuild all 5 injectors. Seems kind of high.

I did PM Toomany Bnz above - thanks

That is WAY high. A shop here will rebuild/balance/test them for $25 apiece if you provide the new nozzles. $75 each if they have to use theirs (Bosch) Even then it'd only be $375!

I recommend the Bosio Italy Nozzles. www.dieselgiant.com has them They are of much better quality than the latest Bosch-India nozzles. Not cheap $44 each, but well worth it!

The rebuilds from this site would also probably work well. I didn't even realize they have them.

I did the injector thing a while back. I put the BOZO injectors in and ran them for about 500 miles. Had them tested and they were having a spray pattern problem. Furthermore the part number was not for my 300D turbo!! So I promptly returned them and bought new Bosch. All and all the BOZO injectors may have had more power but that could have been the alda adjustments I playing with at the same time. I put the Bosch back in purely because of the correct part number for the correct application.

Special note: The torque between the upper and lower body of the injector put at the minimumm and they won't leak. Torque at the maximum and you will surely have a leak after extended driving. Replace heat shields each time they are removed. I have invested about $75 in heat shields so I have some experience lol.

Final solve of the problem... the rack dampener and cheap fuel form Valero. Never go there again. I had a bad idle and pinging at 65 mph. I thought it was going to explode!!!
