124 sunroof fuse help
My sunroof went caput completely this afternoon .. no motor sounds or anything, so the first thing I thought was fuse, and it looks like I thought right. I did not have the appropriate replacement 16A so I went to Autozone and the guy gave me a 15A glass fuse to see if that would work. Well, it did. For about 7 minutes; then the sunroof stopped working again and not surprisingly, I looked at the fuse and it was dead. The sunroof is closed now so I'm not in a panic over it, but it leads me to a couple questions:
1 - What is the best kind of fuse to use? Should I just buy them from my dealership or Fastlane? Or, should that glass 15A have worked, in which case ... 2 - What could cause my sunroof to blow fuses all of a sudden? I'll hit the wiring schematics later tonight but if there's something obvious I should check first, I'd love to know ahead of time. FWIW, the original fuse was in pretty skunky/corroded condition ... may have been its cause of death, rather than an overload.

If it blows while operating the sunroof, it sounds like the cable needs to be removed and cleaned (not a terrible job in a 124) and the clutch needs adjusting.

I put in a new ceramic 16A and it's held through a day of mild use. We'll see how that goes ... not using it much because it's gotten chilly here. If the new fuse blows I'll try adjusting the clutch and probably leave it for the winter. I was planning a cable clean/lube in spring anyway ... it seems slow at times (and everything else is well-lubed) so I figured that was a good maintenance item before next year's sunroof season.
