Swaybar Endlinks (rear)
Do I have to remove the emergency brake guts to access the nut for the bottom of the end link????
ETM makes NO reference to removing the link as a unit, and favors the starting torque type sway bar. thought it'd be simpler than that...

You don't on a W126....don't know about a 116....on the W126 you just undo two nuts on each link, pull them off, put on the new ones and the nuts, and you're set....

I think the w123, w126 and w116 share similar rear suspension designs. All it took for my w123 was two 17mm wrenches with the rear wheels off.
However I do recall myself thinking exactly the same thing you did. I believe the threads on the new part just screw into the rear hub housing. No need to take the rear hub assembly apart.

you can do it with one 17mm wrench in 5 mineuts. i'm taken to grabbing up the metal ones at the junk yards. easy to pop off.
now if someone knew wherer to get th emetal ones new... i'm all ears

But one the 116 does the bottom threads thread out of the backing plate or is there even a nut on the other side?

Ok, I get it, remove nut from sway bar, and then turn and thread the whole stud/balljoint part out of the wheel carrier....right?

The top end has a nut on it. The lower one is threaded directly in, no nut. You just unthread the little ball joint and its out.
