AC pulley

The AC pulley on my 1980 240d has come loose and was making alot of noise. I pulled the belt off to stop the noise. How do I pull the pulley off to see where the failure was?
Thanks

Are you talking about the pully on the compressor clutch or the idler pully? If the idler pully, unscrew the hex-head screw in the center of the pully and lessen the belt tension with the 10mm bolt, although you have probably already done this if you have the belt off. If the compressor clutch pully, it depends on the type of compressor you have.
