How fast are you putting miles on your diesel?

We know these cars like to run. Who out there is putting miles on their car quickly? Not necessarily the most miles but "fast" miles.

I put about 500 miles per week on my W210, or roughly 26K/yr.

ForcedInduction 10-20-2007 07:02 AM

I only put on 9,416miles in 2006.

As a college commuter I put about 150 miles per day, five days a week on mine. That's why I bought the 'ole gal, I wanted to have a tough and reliable highway-miles commuter. She runs like a champ mechanically but its always the usual upkeep that drives me crazy. I'd love to eventually have a mechanically/operationally pristine W123 and drive it like mad. Hmmm, as a future travel speech-therapist I believe there might be an opening in my future stateside at least but I'll be headed overseas. On an attached but unrelated note; I've read many times of W123's having water coming in the cabin from above the emergency brake pedal slot. I've read many times of people that don't know how to find the source. Go out at night, shine a flashlight down or up from either the engine bay or the emergency brake slot. It works, so simple its a 'duh' approach but I've never read of this idea for a solution in locating the leak/hole.

Maybe I should have added that in locating the source of the leak you must be looking at the opposite end from where the flashlight is held to see the light coming through any hole etc...:wacky:

I average 1,000 miles per week on the 83 300sd and drive it year round....winter can't slow that beast down.

pawoSD 10-20-2007 09:45 AM

Depends on the time of year but I usually drive about 16-20,000 miles a year. :D

My dad drives about 400 miles a week between his 300SD and 300D....(he alternates based on the type of driving) 300D gets to do the rush-hour stuff.

635CSi 10-20-2007 10:48 AM

I average about 350-400Km a day, so that works out to 127,750-146,000Km per year.

TheDon 10-20-2007 10:51 AM

Around 350-400 miles a week

lietuviai 10-20-2007 11:41 AM

I put about 100' on my 300D in the last 4 months, all in reverse.:D

Craig 10-20-2007 11:49 AM

About 35-40K miles/year on the 300D, all long distance highway travel (I'm in chicago today, going to toledo tomorrow).

My wife only puts 5-10K miles/year on the 240D.

TMAllison 10-20-2007 11:58 AM

Averaging about 30-35k a year on the E300. My commute is 550mi a week + some weekend fun. The 85 hasnt been driven much since I got the 99.

I fill up (18-20gals) every 6 days.

These leaks are usually the windshield seal, replace, or use silicone around the corners. If it gets really cold at just the wrong time, cracked glass is in your future.

Cervan 10-20-2007 02:49 PM

not fast enough lol, its hard for a car to gain miles when it doesnt move.

crashone 10-20-2007 02:49 PM

As fast as I can get away with!!:D:rolleyes:;)
