Cool Toast to the finest cars in the world!

God I love my W126 its just such a damn fine car. Looks great, I can pull up to a $3m house and not feel out of place. Try that with a 20 year old Toyota. I get compliments constantly, again who compliments a 20 year old Toyota. Reliable to a fualt, mine has never let me down, never not in almost five years now. Its always started first time, every time. Its loyal like a dog, it always preforms as expected. Its awsome handling and brakes have saved my butt a couple of times.

Its great for camping I have done that, I have taken mine off road to chase trout on some small rivers, preforms above and beyond off road. Its as good as a small pickup in that regard. Then I can hose the mud off and go to a trendy night club.

So tonight I will raise my Heineken to my W126, the best damn car in the world! I have had it for going on five years and I still enjoy every second of driving it.

You can have my W126 when you pry it from my cold dead hands! When they bury me they are going to have to dig a large hole because I'm going in the front seat of my SDL.

Come on W123 guys, lets toast! To some of the best cars in the world!

Us 124 guys probably feel the same. Would hop in the TE tomorrow and drive it to California and back without thinking twice. I LOVE our cars.

I drive both the 123 and 126 routinely, the SD has a better ride, the CD is more nimble, enjoy 'em both.

viggen9, hell of a collection!

I home brew, keg only.

My SD, I have to adjust the valves, and it's not as powerful, but there you go.

You got that right, best cars in the world. I`ll toast an Energy drink to that.
I must love my old MB to drag it home on the back of a U-Haul for 500 miles. $900.00
Drive 350 miles to metric motors for the new power plant $6000.00
and propably another $500.00 for a few other parts and repairs.
there was that $300.00 I paid the welder.
two new tires two days ago and the nutral safety switch last week.
and now it seem like the U-joint is bad. driveline work, what`s that going to cost?
But you know, I wouldn`t trade this old girl for a new one, I know what I have. A new car you are stepping into the unknown world of new design problems. and all of the computer glitches installed.

So every morning when I go out to see the old girl I give her a hug and tell her I still love her.
My wife is getting suspicious.

May be the center carrier, a DIY, I've heard. Parts not too expensive I think, check above for price.

I have been under there trying to see what is loose or worn. I have the car up on ramps to get a better view. I hold the front shaft so I don`t get the clacking from the slop in the trans. and I detect looseness in the U Joint. could be the bearing though, don`t see any rip in the rubber.
Didn`t have the problem with the old engine, do now with the new eng.
when I disconnected the drive line from the trans, I just pushed it back enough to clear the flexdesk. then pulled eng. and trans. so maybe pushing it back just agravated some thing that was already to stick up it`s ugly head.

Still love my car

A good friend of mine restored (yes, took to bare metal and completely rebuilt) an 88 Toyota Celica all-trac which will be 20 years old next year. It would look as welcome in front of a $3M house as my 300D.

The problem is the cops would run me out if I loitered in front of a $3M house

Hattie, if you go before me, can I give your kin a leather seat to bury you in?

Maybe the shaft was not realigned. The bearing may be worn without the rubber torn?
