Welcome me to the CD club

I found an 82 on Craigslist locally this AM and called. It was just listed over night and I was the first caller. Went out to see it, not really expecting much. What I found was a beautiful, garage kept example, with records(partial). Leather interior, nice wood, MB blue green exterior, with 238k on the clock......and verifiable. Mostly rust free, just a small spot on the corner by the trunk seal.New A/C system, new Pirelli tires.......ran like a dream

$2800.............LIFE IS GOOD

Nice!

Wish I'da seen it first...but I've got to move a car and get the 190 parted out and gone before I can do that. Then I'll move my bumpers and safety triangle from the 280CE over.

Congrats! I paid $3,000 for my '81 CD back in February. Note to self: never look at a used car when there's 8" of snow on the ground preventing a good underneath inspection. After ripping the smelly old carpeting out I found a horror show of floor rust, but after lots of fiberglassing it's actually quite solid now. I've taken mine on several 1000+ mile round trips and it's a wonderful car.

Good luck with yours.

Bert

Yes ,rust ,the all time killer of old cars.Im intersted in one part of the sell and thats the final condition ,Ive had rust issues and I will never go back to that ride .The first thing Ive learned is to bring a screw driver ,a thin long one ,and a floor jack .Its surprising how quick the response from the seller is when he sees you poking around underneath the car."AH ,yeah ,it has a little rust ,but ,ahh".Ill then make comment to them of calling their local salvage guy .If its REAL bad Ill then say ,I can make payments .

I will post some pics later this week.....maybe tues. Although very nice, it does need a few things. Both door windows need a little help to close as does the sunroof. Cruise is not working but I do have another amp to try.A good detail will work wonders too, although not all that bad.Valve adj. and a trans service is first on the list, along with filters and oil change.
It also has a minor vibration in the ass end that I have to find. My best guess is an axle going bad or maybe bushing.

Congratulations on your "new" CD. I bought mine new at Stephenson Motors in Dallas in late 1984 - had a 79 before that. You won't find a more enjoyable or eye catching car to drive.

So I think we may want to park vehicles by body style, and get all the coupes together since there seem to be so many of them coming!

Nice car. After years of thinking CD's looked like an odd sedan missing something, they are starting to grow on me....
