Removing upper oil pan in turbodiesel engine
How hard is it to do it while in the car? I want to do some modifications to mine and thought on yanking it out so I can do some welding in comfort.

The engine has to be lifted up a few inches for it to be removed.

I'll try it out in a J/Y car then before doing it in mine. Of course, knowing my car I will have to drop the crossmember again...

AFIK, dropping the crossmember on a 123 requires using "the blue wrench." How did you do it last time?
