Where is my block heater?

I have a 1988 190d that apparently has no block heater installed. Where does it go in? Or am I just missing the cord?

Heater location

The heater goes in the right side of the block. There are three ports into the water jacket of the block above and in fron of the starter motor. The rearmost one is threaded. I believe this is the one that gets the heater. You have to be carefull removing the threaded plug for that port to avoid cracking the block on a 22+ year old engine. The heaters are available through several sources. I believe Fastlane has them.

You can also install an inline heater from ZeroStart and others. Follow directions. A lot simpler than dealing with a plug that's been installed for 20+ years.
