There wasn't one in our town until we created a demand that a smart businessman decided to supply.

Ah, the power of the marketplace.

Well Bio D is still hanging in at $3.37, but the 76 in Scotts Valley just raised Diesel from $3.59 to $3.63

This is the highest price I have ever seen in the Santa Cruz area.

Don't think that's high enough? Come up to Clark Co. WA where it's averaging $3.69 for diesel.

Went up again around here a couple days ago. We're now averaging between $3.19 and $3.29 depending on the location of the station. Getting expensive! Luckily this time of year I only drive about 90-110 miles a week, so I only fill barely once a month. Otherwise it'd be hurting me.

I prefer to give my fuel $ to the guy here in town who owns the biodiesel processing facility.
I prefer to give my money to the local Chinese and sandwich shops. ;-) Our 84 (310,000 miles) has never been to a fuel station since we owned it.

I bought my first tankful of diesel yesterday. It was $3.20 a gallon in Fairfax, VA.

How do you like that Freestyle?

One of those with a hefty 4 cylinder diesel and the third row seat would be something we might consider.

don't understand the prices at all. Here in south Jersey, I have 3 stations that sell diesel within 5 miles of each other, all on the same route. Hess $3.01 a gallon, Vespa $3.29 a gallon, and Shell at $2.69. Now, whats the deal here??? I can see a penny to a nickel difference between stations, but 30-40 cents??

It is fine. Though the Ford Engineers are retards. Too many Freestyle specific parts. For example.... $30 to replace the windshield wipers. I think only Michelin is the only company to make these very specific parts.

It also scares me about the sealed CVT. Though it is kind of fun to hear the engine stay at the same RPM as you accelerate. It does fairly well on the acceleration part.

This country runs on diesel, figuratively and pretty much literally. Sure hope it doesn't stay this high for too long or the economy will totally tank.

It's becoming increasingly clear this country is going to have to adjust to a new living arrangement.

Or tank.

How would a diesel behave linked up to a CVT?

Any thoughts?

Probably very much the same. Ford uses otto-cycle gas engines in their vehicles with the CVT, at least I think so... That cycle is more efficient at running at a constant speed. Diesels are very efficient running at a constant speed. That'd mean it could rev up to its optimum power/torque output and build up boost, and then stay there while accelerating, no boost changes, etc. Probably would be very efficient.

I can't stand CVT's, they are just not right.
