If they're the red silicone ones, I'd say BUY 'EM ! .

I have some good used drain tubes, even at least one of the red ones, as well as the vent grills and mounting clips. Email me if you want good used w123 parts, as I have just about everything, as I have parted out six of these cars.

Post Red Cowl Drain Tubes

Yes ~ they're *much* better .

German plastics and rubber items tend to be bio degradable and the light coating of Diesel contaminated engine oil rots anything rubber / plastic badly and rapidly .

Often simply -touching- these important drain hoses causes them to crumble .

This allows engine fumes to be routed directly to the fresh air intake of the HVAC .

Yeah... I found that out the hard way. I had a set of nice red ones on my W116 and decided they looked too much like big clown shoes, so I sold them and put some nice black ones on. Now the black ones are hardened and crumbling away.

Post Red Drain Tubes

Yes, they certainly do look like clown shoes so I didn't grab them years ago when there were junk W123's everywhere, like you I discovered the hard way when a black one crumbled at my touch..... NOW what am I gonna do ? .

I got lucky and found a pair of red ones for my Coupe, I don't *touch* the original ones on my 240D or 300TD.....
