300D Suspension Upgrade?

I just got my first Mercedes, an '82 300d Turbo Diesel! It runs well but it turns out I need new rear shock absorbers and a new lower control arm. I figure as long as I'm replacing things I might as well go for an upgrade, and I'd really like to improve the handling a bit. Any recommendations? Should I switch the shocks out all around? What about the original springs?

Thanks!
Ross

Congrats!
I would suggest new HD shocks all around. Springs, someone else can help you with.

The Lower Control Arm, in front, or rear?

In front usually it's the bushing or ball joint that goes, the only time the rear, swing arm, needs replacing is for a rust condition.
These cars may not be suited to performance tuning, but who knows.

I'll suggest this link http://www.schumanautomotive.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=19

Good to have you aboard.
