what goes there?

i have a 1985 300sd, there is a whole in the interior near the sunroof, right in the middle. next to the dome light. it looks like something was there like a button or knob. Now it's just a hole. I can't get any pictures on the internet, and i don't have the owners manual. Anybody KNow?

nope. starting from the windshield, it goes sun visor, dome light, then the mystery hole. I found a picture on ebay of the same chassis. not very clear but i kinda make out there is something there. i circled the spot.

cabin temp sensor for the automatic climate control

oh so they moved from the dashboard to the roof.. huh? hmm that going to be a fun part to find....i've never seen that before,... this is my first 85 w126, my da had a 1991 126, but i don't recall the temp sensor.

hmm, actually the sensor is there, it's the grill that's gone.
