UCA, Ball join, tie rod replacements, special tools needed?

Are they? Some have said they were able to do the ball joints with the az press kit.... What else is needed?

The ball joint and the bushings should be changed at the same time. You do need a press for both but you can buy the entire thing for about $60

I replaced the UCA and a complete tie rod. The only special tool was a ball joint separator. The LCA, I understand you'll need to remove the spring.

If you replace just the ball joint itself, you'll need a press. The new UCA has one already installed, as did the tie rod assembly, two actually.

Be careful with the spring....

Ensure if you plan to remove the spring, you get the proper compressor.

MB springs have a bend or curve to their axis when in place and a cheapo compressor can allow the spring to pop out of it's retaining arms.

Lots of potential energy stored in a spring, bad karma if it gets loose.
Look at Klann compressors for the correct style.

Jim
