I want to get or make polyurethane sway bar bushings for the front because changing to the AMG sway bar is such a PITA, if you can find it. I think that making a clam-shell type sway bar bushings would be great, because you woudlnt have to take the sway bar out to change the bushings.

I will do my w123 vogtland springs sometime soon too.

Easier than the rear IF you use the right spring compressor. Which the shops probably aren't.

question

Winmutt, did you get an alignment because you needed one or because when you lowered it was needed?

I think I might have my hands on a set of Vogtlands soon. I like the blue W123.. just low enough.. I don't want to tuck too much sidewall in the rear

Bounce may mean not enough shock

It is a bit bouncier of a ride, specifically in the rear, I am thinking about putting comforts back there to soften things up a bit.

One of the other things I really like is that the lowend torque is now directly turned into go power instead settling the rear end and being absorbed in the suspension.
If you're getting bounce in the suspension, it may be that the shock rates are not high enough to handle the stiffer springs. I don't know anything about the "comforts", but I suspect they may have lower damping and rebound rates than HD's, which would lead to more bounce.

If I hadn't just spent all of my money on bringing the suspension up to stock standards and taking care of delayed maintenance, I'd offer to take the problem off of your hands

I got one because a. it was needed and b. I replaced pretty much all of the front end suspension/steering components. 3 nubs in the rear and one in front. Even then I think the rears might be just a tad to short.

I have 2 nubs on there now. I believe a 3 nub will raise it 14mm more which will leave it just about right. Still might have a little bit of rear rake. I have some quality q's about the springs as others have had mixed results with thats needed.

Either way I am still taking speed humps at 45mph and cornering is near superb.

Absolutely true, W123 and W126.

A few months ago I was cruising back from San Francisco, pretty briskly, and not paying that much attention to the speed, expecially, and went into an uphill sweeper, a rolling progressive curve, a 30 degrees uphill angle, I would guess.

The car REALLY wallowed in the turn, so I glanced at the speedometer -

I was going 90 mph!!!

Definately would
NOT recommend that with stock springs. I run eibachs and bilstein comforts.
Works well.

That factory skid plate sure is nice Nice job on the springs guys, I bet the handling is great now. Personally, I like running my wagon pretty tall with stock springs and Bilstein HDs in the front and height set pretty high in the back... I can outcorner my dad's TDI jetta wagon but can't touch my brothers Saab SPG... or maybe its an issue of speed.... All in all, nice work!
