240D clutch
I posted a thread a while back about a stuttering clutch when the engine/clutch is cold.
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/201883-stuttering-clutch-when-cold.html?highlight=stuttering I'd like to try to bleed the clutch to see if it helps. What do you think? It certainly can't hurt unless I screw it up. Any special procedure/tricks to bleeding a 240D clutch? |
No tricks to bleeding the clutch. It's just a simple hydraulic system without any valves. It should have bled itself out by now. Do you have to add fluid?
|
The manual says to reverse bleed it by using the RF caliper as a pressure source. That didn't work at all for me.
I ended up bleeding it like normal brakes. Have a helper pump the pedal, hold it down as you crack open the bleed valve and repeat until no more bubbles come out. |
Not losing fluid nor do I see any leaks. I bled the brakes couple of months ago but did not do the clutch. It should be done even if it does not help the stuttering clutch.

Reverse bleeding is not easy unless you have the right stuff on hand, the proper size clear hose, 5/16, too fit over the brake nipple (9mm) and over the clutch slave nipple (7mm) this is where I got tired of the brake fluid shower or at least crawling back under in a puddle of B/F and re atteching the hose. Use a couple tiny hose clamps and use a 1/4 socket (not a screw driver) too tighten them. I have all that in a Ziplock and bleeding is easy. I dont want too wait for gravity:D and no "peddle down, close nipple yda, yda, Just pump the heck out the peddle, pump some more, close nipples, done

I did the factory recommended brake-to-slave cylinder blled. It worked fine, if a bit odd.
