And then she went BANG! Anybody got a decent 603 head?

And then she went BANG!

Anybody got a decent 603 head?

Oh well. I wondered out loud to y'all the other day about what other ham-fisted crap I was gonna find. The prechamber lock ring had been epoxied into a crapped-out hole.

At least I got my 606 fan upgrade and new belt in and drove it a bit before it blew up.

Ouch, yeah you gotta wonder what some people are thinking when they work on their cars. www.car-part.com had one, may be worth a call down in GA

Oh man, what a shame.

Reminds me of the used 280Z I bought back in '90. Drove it for a year, then noticed something peeling off the block. I dropped the pan and saw a large piece of the block held in with JBWeld, which was now cracking from thermal cycles and stress.

What is funny is JB Weld advertises just such a use on the package. It is wonderful stuff, but I would not count on it fixing a cracked block.

Do a lot of work for propeller rebuilding service here in town. These guys are veritable welding/machining magicians.

When a dinged up bronze or alu. prop comes in, they cut off the damaged sections and build up new metal weldment; then machine, grind, contour, hand balance, computer balance, polish and once more on the balancer.

If I can't find a decent head, I'll snatch this one off and have them fix it. They owe me a couple for some work I did a while ago.

Ahhh, just clean it up real good and use some more JB weld. Might slap some duct tape and bailing wire on top to beef it up.

I was thinking some of that peel-off foil mastic the HVAC guys use. That's some sticky stuff!

If I'd paid more than $900 for the car, I'd be bummed!

yeah see if they cant fix the one you have. a new one will cost a pretty penny.

and this is mild compared the the E300 that came in the shop the other day, smoking, low compression on cyl 6- someone had jb welded the glow plug in and it was leaking compresion out from around it. jb weld on the cyl head around the head gasket and a broken off 1/4" extension jamed in the hole where the rail pin should be and jb weld around that.

Actually, I drove for a few weeks. Yesterday, as I torqued my injectors, apparently the glue seal broke.

I think that I have what you need. The motor has 230K miles on it, blown head gasket. I swapped it out for another engine. It came out of a 1994 S350 TD.
