grease in ball joints..... w123
I am in the process of re-assembly on the silver beast. the joints come with the boots installed with rings on them and there is no zerk, are these factory assembled with grease? if not, how do I get grease in there? I practiced pulling apart the old lower ball joint and there was no easy way to get those rings back on..... thanx

They are pre-lubed and sealed. The only time you should worry about the grease is if the boots become torn.
I used a standard hand pump grease gun with a needle end fitting to pump grease into my old W114's ball joints' torn boots. I then sealed the opening with a splop of silicone gasket sealer. |

Lemforder joint grease
I have lemforder ball joint and control arms I am waiting to install, they are pregreased then? So should I just install them? Should I coat them in silicone oil too?

It wouldn't hurt imho to squirt a little grease in there with a needle on a new one. The mfgr's never overload them with grease.

It's tough to get in there. I've removed the boots and added grease, but it really wasn't worth the effort, as you can only get to a bit of the top of the ball. And the retainers are uncooperative when you try to put them back. At one time, I considered drilling the bottom for a zerk. So I disassembled an old joint and decided that there really wasn't any safe way to do it. Just install and be happy for 200K miles.

Okay I like both your options, where would I get a grease needle and would mixing grease types be problematic?
