Fixing a center console

Having perused the forum for insight, I was able to lift up my center console to see why it wasn't sitting properly and hopefully get some light to the gear indicator. Apparently, the PO did not have access to this wonderful forum because it looks like someone pulled it up without removing the ashtray and change holder. The front lip of the wood was split and the right hook (?) was broken off. I have glued the wood back but is there any fix for the plastic hook part? Has anyone rigged something up to make it stay?

One other question, how do I get at the light for the gear indicator? It wasn't on the side where shown in a previous post's pictures. Is it optic fiber in my car?

Thanks,

Alex

The switches use optic fiber, the light for the gear-shift indicater is a light bulb just under the shift panel.

Anyone have thoughts on how to fix the plastic part that holds the center console in the middle?

How do I get to the light in my gear indicator? I can't seem to find the place where it opens up.

Thanks,

Alex
