sunroof

I recently purchased a 1981 300 sd. Thanks to this forum I am able to get the car back in great running shape. The sunroof works if you help it along with your other hand. It is as though something needs lube. Any ideas on what to do? Without helping it out, it will just hum. [ try to work]

Cable and/or slide lube gummy is my guess. The clutch on the drive is likely slipping and the motor running/humming. I've not heard of a clutch adjustment loosening, but I guess it's possible.

I have done a search and see that the cable could need cleaning. How do I take out the sunroof? Does the cable come out from the top? Thanks
