60 MPG Hummer
I don't like to hear anything about a hummer, but this is an interesting story:
http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/120/motorhead-messiah_Printer_Friendly.html (sorry, kinda OT kinda not - there's some diesel content in there and a mention of BlueTec)

There's a lot of other interesting stuff in the article, so if we can, lets not make it into an SVO battle thread.

I saw Hummer and checked it out but then saw H3 and lost interest. H3 isn't a Hummer no matter what G.M. says.
I wonder how long before they license the Ferrari name and use it on a rebodied Cobalt? Did Lovecraft hire this guy? HAHA. I get a laugh out of the nonchalant way he basically says he steals waste oil. Now, admittedly, a Turbine WILL burn just about everything but this guy's hype. Hydrogen injection. AHAHAHAHAHAAA!! Right. Good one. Maybe I'm a cynic but I get so tired of hearing the "masses" around me tell me about their friend's friend's Uncle's....... ......who just pulls up to a takeout and put the oil in their tank and drives off..... .....in an unmodified car/truck. *yawn* And the people that listen to the Hydrogen hype and think they'll run their cars on water. (And seem to think that the "fuel of the FUTURE" will be free!!) Last edited by Den.; 11-01-2007 at 10:00 PM. |

A Hummer hybrid with a turbine for the engine?! Good luck with that.

All I can say about the article is blah blah blah. Lets see some results not hype.
100 mpg out of a Lincoln Continental, cut emissions by 80%, and double the horsepower, nfw. |

Perhaps read the article before you post. "H3 is not a hummer"...who cares? You missing the point of the article. Ferrari name on a cobalt. Not sure of the point of this statement. "Hydrogen injection". He's not suggesting running on straight hydrogen, just injecting to modify the way the diesel is combusted...a la ForcedInduction's methanol injection. "unmodified car/truck...yawn"...I've put 33,000 miles on my unmodified vehicle using 100% Kruger-researched blends (WVO/RUG). "Car running on water"...won't happen. It takes more energy to separate the hydrogen and oxygen than you get back by burning them. That's along the lines of a perpetual motion machine. However utilizing small amounts of hydrogen to improve diesel combustion characteristics could certainly be real. There's lots of hype and misinformation out there. But Goodwin and Kruger should be listened to.

I apologize if I offended you.
I should have also been clearer. I meant those that say unmodified cars and unprocessed WVO/etc. I still say the guy's full of it. Last edited by Den.; 11-02-2007 at 03:00 PM. |

Anything that has a gas turbine will burn 20 gallons of fuel faster than the pump can fill the tank
There is no way he can get that sort of duty cycle efficiency out of that turbine to get 60mpg.... |
