What Transmission Fluid can be used?

I am having the transmission rebuilt in the wife's '91 300D 2.5L and was wondering is there a tranny fluid that meets MB spec's other then OEM MB tranny fluid? The shop doing the work doesn't stock MB trans fluid and will have to order from a MB dealer.

I know that Chrysler used their ATF+4 fluid in the MB transmissions used in the LX cars and was wondering if this is ok (local Wally World stocks the ATF+4) or should I head to the MB dealer to get the fluid?

MB doesn't even sell the fluid for that transmission. You need Dexron 2 or 3.

Ok, that means that Mobil 1 ATF from Wal-Mart will be ok to use in the car. The Mobil 1 is what I was leaning toward buying for the change and it is a Dextron III (2005 or older) use approved.

Thanks for the help there shipmate. Have a good weekend.
