I've said it before, I'll say it again: Motor mounts - WOW!

Night and day. I practically have to look at the tach to see if the car is running. If you think your mounts are tired, they probably are. Change them!

Yup - worn mounts can really make the car shake, rattle, and roll.

For those of you who want to test your existing mounts before spending $100+ for new mounts... read page 3 of this PDF file. It shows how to measure the mounts to see if they have collapsed:

Xeleventybillion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1one

New motor mounts = AWESOME!!!!

I saw no physical difference between the old and new, even prying with a bar. The difference while running = WHOA!

I have a clanking noise on the passenger side. Has been getting worse over last couple of weeks. I took it to my mechanic and he said I needed the control arm bushing replaced, shocks and my motor mounts were flat. I had him change the contol arm bushings. I replaced the shocks myself thanks to all the helpfull folks on this forum. I still have the noise, can it be the mounts? Noise only happens when going over speed bumps or rought roads. Does not happen if I hit a hole in the road. Also the ball joints are OK.

The short answer is yes, it CAN be the motor mounts and if the tech said they are flat replace them and see if that solves it. It's not terribly hard nor expensive and you will notice a dramatic improvement in the level of vibration from the front of the car.

The difference is only a few mm, and prying won't show anything. Use the factory procedure shown in the PDF link above. It also has a procedure for how to relieve stress in the driveline. Rather than make the tool shown, I use a small socket that is approx 13mm diameter. Works great.
