83 240D shift points
How do you adjust the shift points on these automatics? I replaced the levers on the 3/2 VCVs that are located on the valve cover and now the engine revs to high RPMs before upshifting. No flaring, no double shifts, no clunking on downshifts. There is no Bowden cable to adjust.
I will be checking my vacuum to the modulator today, but does increasing or decreasing it improve shift points. In a nutshell, I need it to upshift sooner. Thanks. John

Where's it shifting now in relation to shift points on the speedometer? Can ye hold 3rd gear up to 55/60mph? Oughta be able to hold gears long as ye like by feathering the accelerator. For example, not hammering down but letting it glide at higher rpm's. Then pushin pedal to floor and quickly lettin up when you ready to grab higher gear.

I will let others more familiar with your setup advise on changing your shifting. It will be done either with your VCV or the modulator on the tranny I suppose..... My 80 wagon did not have a VCV, so the shift point for it were controlled at the tranny modulator.

Ok guys and gals, the vacuum to the tranny modulator is 20" at idle. It drops to 4" at mid throttle. The vacuum to the tranny does not pass thru the adjustable vacuum control valve. This appears to be the correct routing based on the diagram for my car. The vacuum drops are governed by the 3/2 valves located on the valve cover.

Just wanted to follow up with everyone. I went out and rechecked the 3/2 vacuum switch tubings and found I had mixed two of them. Now with them connected on the proper nipple, the car shifts fine.
