DJ,

I did not remove the tranny, just the pan. I saw the DieselGiant pictorial, I just did not check the pushrod from below. My car will inch forward, but it will not normally engage forward gears.

Thanks...what have you done to get yours moving?

Don

Don, my car doesn't move yet. The rear wheels did spin and the tranny seemed to shift normally when it was in the air. On the ground it barely budged. It was if the tranny was slipping in drive or the other forward gears while on the ground.
I haven't tried to replace the sleeve that is mentioned in the previous posts. That looks like it would be fairly easy to do. I just have to get around to buying the part.

Need help...I have to drive tomorrow

I checked the pushrod on my replaced B2 piston on the 81-300SD and put the piston back in.

At least it drives forward (unlike the first time I replaced the piston), BUT it still does not engage until the engine goes high on rpm's and then slams into gear. Worse than it did when I decided to change it.

NOW, I have to drive about 7 hours tomorrow, with varying times of stop-and-go traffic.

I am taking a chance that the tranny will just stop working all together by taking this car?

Any insight will help.

Don

Are the other vehicles in your signature roadworthy?

Why run it if you don't have to - given, if the other cars are drivers? Beats burning up the transmission until you can commit the appropriate time to troubleshoot.

You've already answered your own question, actually.

On the other hand I have really slammed some machinery

through the years and survived it. I had a bad engine on my 300D from oil loss and I litreally prayed forthe day it would fail, and I drove and drove and even took it up the West VA mountains and it would not die..some two years later i yanked it anyway

I bought the bushing today. It only cost $5 but it's only a small plastic ring. I would have bought it from Fastlane but sad to say the shipping would have cost more than the part.
Hopefully next weekend I'll put in and update everyone if this does the trick.

THIS IS THE 3RD TIME I HAVE TRIED TO GET THE B2 FIXED! The first time the car would not go forward. Then, the 2nd time, I opened it up again to put the pushrod (dogbone) in properly...then the car would go forward but worse then it was originally (won't go from a complete stop without a high rev and slamming into gear).

So, today I finally got the black teflon sleeve and tore everything apart again, put it back together...and now the car will not move forward at all again! I guess it could be the pushrod is out of place.

Is something else wrong or should I try a 4th time to get it right.

What could be wrong if it is not the B2 piston. The car goes backward and forward fine after it gets going (well, not now).

Thanks...Don

Do you mean once it's warmed up? I ask because I'm having a transmission problem too (haven't replaced the B2 piston). Mine does what you had happening - it revs but doesn't engage right away. That goes away after it's warm.

No, right now the car does not go forward at all; but, that is what it did when I decided to "fix" it. And, it did not get better when it got warm.

I haven't got around to installing my teflon sleeve yet. The weather here has been to crappy to go out and work on it lately. This weekend doesn't look too promising either as its supposed to snow. I wish I could drive my car into the garage to do it.
