Resurrection

I've got an '81 300SD that I've spent a lot of time & $$ bringing to close-to-perfect driving condition (mostly via Enrique at Mr MB Motors in SoCal). I bought it in late '03 with 109k miles on it, and added 30k miles in the next 18 months. With other cars and motorcycles getting most of my mileage, I haven't driven it much in the last couple of years - maybe 1500 miles in '06, and about 100 miles this year. It's been garaged, and I've charged the battery and taken it out for an hour long drive on occasion, but no long trips since 6/06.

I'd like to start using it again as a daily driver, and I'd welcome your thoughts on what has to be done to get it there after such a long period of inactivity. The last maintenance was a change of the oil and filter (and both fuel filters) in summer of 2006. It's actually still got the bulk of a tank of fuel from 11/06 in the tank (I poured in a bunch of Stabil at the time, I don't know how much good that does after all this time). The car's currently in Park City, UT, and I'd like to do what's necessary to make it safe, operable, and unlikely to break down for the 800 mile drive to SoCal in the next few weeks, where I'd just turn it over to Enrique and tell him to do whatever he thinks is necessary.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Sounds like you put it away well. Air filter maybe. Extra fuel filters, just in case.

Turn the key and start it up.
