Is nasty old gasoline from 1992 okay to run in my 300sd?

I bought a 1971 280sel 4.5 this weekend hasn't run since 1992; can i run that old nasty gas in my diesel 1980 300sd?

Why would you want to run gas in a diesel?

I mean as a percentage as stated in the owners manual; but I was really wondering if gasoline changes over time to something that is no good for motors to eat.

If your owner's manual says it's OK to blend gasoline with your diesel, it's obsolete. Later manuals only allow the use of kerosene to lower the gel point of your diesel fuel. Gasoline has no place in a diesel vehicle. Why don't you just leave it where it is and run it? It should still run fine unless it's contaminated with water.

I would just get rid of it in the proper manner. I don't think anyone would advise you to use gas that has been in storage that long.
Gasoline can begin to deteriorate after only a short time in storage. When it's gone bad it has a very distinctive "skunky" odor and that means trouble for your motoring. Skunky gas can cause gum deposits in your fuel system that at best interfere with the performance of your engine. At worst, your engine won't run and you're probably looking at a costly repair bill.

Old gasoline turns to varnish and will not burn well at all.

Just dispose of it.

We've always put a gallon or so gasoline in the diesel tractors (probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-12 gallon diesel tanks) in the winter months. Makes starting a lot easier and they don't care otherwise, at that percentage. Wouldn't risk much more. It'd take 30 or 40 percent kerosene to get that kind of starting improvement, probably. Wouldn't burn more than 5% or so in the Benz even fresh, and gasoline does turn into something pretty noxious as it ages. Fresh gas? Probably a few percent in a full tank of fresh diesel doesn't hurt as much as we think.

50% kerosene and 50% unleaded gas for extreme cold conditions.

I'd 86 the old gas.

Why would you even want to take a chance. The gas was free and needs to be disposed of. I would not even put that in a lawn mower. You are going to spend a lot to try and save a little, never a good idea.

Most every fire station in Missouri has what's called a collection station. You can take it to the fire dept. for disposal. At least I was able to numerous times while living in Columbia, MO.

I've got a few gallons of old gas I took out of my Travco sitting in the backyard because I couldn't figure out how to dispose of it. I let a few other gallons slowly evaporate.
