2000 miles in the 300 this weekend
Out of all my vehicles, I'm taking the 300 to Kansas this weekend. I'm leaving Detroit at 6:00am and should be arriving 14 hours later in Lawrence Kansas. Hopefully (knock on wood) nothing goes wrong, although I feel pretty confident in the car. I'm leaving Sunday night and should be home Monday afternoon.
It's great to be young sometimes.......  NOTE: I should be hitting 1/4 million miles on the way back!

Traveling
Good luck, Adam, watch for the drunks and idiots. I did a trip like that when I was younger, too. Ride down to LA, do the 'California 1000,' ride back to Santa Clara. 1888 miles in 58-1/2 hours on a 1975 BMW R75/5 motorcycle. My butt was sore Monday morning! but I was young then, alas.

Bah, drove my Benz from VA to ID, then ID to MI (and a few trips in between) 2000 miles in a Benz is a pleasure!
Usually I'm a cruise addict but surprisingly I don't miss it in my 220D. I find that my foot rests nicely on the pedal at a comfortable level to cruise at 3000rpm/60mph all day long.

God love ya,,,, go for it. I would not hesitate to go around the perimeter of the U.S. in the TE. I LOVE that car. BTW,,, been to Larry, Kansas,,, neat little town.

My sister is a sophomore at KU in Lawrence. I live about 90 minutes South in Wichita. Are you looking at the school, or just visiting? There is not much to do there, unless you go into KC.

Wow....14 hours straight.
1000 miles in 14 hours? Thats 71.4 mph....with no stops for doing normal human activities.....  And the car might want fuel 2-3 times along there too..... A lot of the non-Michigan states have the super-slow 65mph limits too....When I went to Florida in March I drove 12.5 hours pretty much non-stop (less than an hour of non-drivng time and only got from Lansing, MI to stock bridge Georgia....far less than 1000 miles. (only about 800ish) And once we got into Georgia I was holding 85-90mph just to not be passed by MOST of the trucks!

I did 5,800 miles in 8 driving days of varying length this summer (longest day was 1,152 miles, shortest was about 300). Great times in the dieselmobile.

I love the drive from Richmond VA to Milwaukee. The car loves it too. About 17 straight hours of driving. Have a safe and uneventful trip.

Hey Adam- why would you choose any other car? Am planning a trip next summer of similiar proportions. Hefty to do list before then. Pittsburgh to Myrtle Beach. Getting the AC perfected is a priority. My son wants to hop in the 300 and leave today, daughter says she will fly and meet us there, oh well. Guess I know who will inherit my cars some day!
