Ruben, I've seen that clip countless times. Too bad those are the only ones. Fifth Gear, on the other hand, did the BMW M3 (first gen) a while back and compared it to the Lancia Delta Integrale. I wish TG would do something similar like maybe the AMG 280CE or something and the BMW M6. I know there's a clip between the Alpina BMW CSL and the AMG w107 (forgot the model though) also on YT.

Did anyone else catch James trying to engage the parking brake with the parking RELEASE. He kept pulling it and saying that the parking brake didn't work.

No it isn't. In the UK, where these programmes are made and broadcast, we pay a licence fee to receive them. You don't.

Yeah I noticed that too. Poor James May....

Based on our cars PB's....it probably didn't work anyways

It only works on our 300D, and we have tried to fix it on the SD's.

Poor left hand drivers! The RHD parking brake works by pulling the handle to set. Pulling and twisting CW will release.

Yep.

Either way it was probably going to be broken.

I liked how the much reviled Beetle just chugged along. There's a good reason why those cars were built in Nigeria for years after they quit making them in Germany. I think only Mexico and Brazil made them for longer...

I've been working out of China for over a month now, and a customer today in Ft. Worth said "Dude, I saw a car like that on Top Gear. It was in Africa".......

Haha, this is genius because I've got a W123, a Beta and used to have a Bug.

Great show, very funny, I think the only real problem with the 123 was the weight for crossing that salt flat that had never been crossed before. I suppose that weight would be an issue in off roading as well though.

Definitely the weight was a disadvantage. I noticed a couple of things.. The mud would cake the wheelwells and make the rear wheels not move. yuk.. And then, they finally aired down the tires for a better contact patch. Very smart move there. Used to do that in the snow and sand all the time.
