I hope you are wrong, i just got this 93 with the 6 cilinders 3.5 diesel in it and don`t seems to be using much oil at all, it got 215000 miles in it.

He's correct.

He owned one of them.

Same engine...........same risks.............keep your fingers crossed............66% of them have no issues.

There's always the possibility but with that kind of mileage, every few thousand you put on it is another few percentage points that you might have a good one. You're over halfway to having a "reasonably" secure one, I'll put it that way. Just keep an eye on it and enjoy it for the time being.

My 300SD friend's grandparents have a 350SDL with nearly 200k on it, asked her to ask them and she says it doesn't use any oil unreasonably. Mechanic serviced its whole life.

Sometimes they do survive.

93 SD is a W140.

90-91 350SD/L have a 603.970, 92-93 300SD and 94-95 S350 (same car) have a 603.971. But that's splitting hairs. The differences are external. The only possible exception is the 95 S350s with VIN 26xxxx or higher. There's an unsubstantiated rumor that those cars came with beefier connecting rods and are thus less susceptible to bending. I have not read this on formal letterhead or heard from an indesputable authority.
