Any shop manuals on the 606.910 engine?

I;ve seen them mentioend for 603's etc, is there one for the 606? No one around here knows the details of this engine at all, and I need some detailed know-how.

THNX!

My new-to-me W210 car has a 606 engine and I can't find a manual for it either. So far the factory's subscription service is the only thing going but it's terribly expensive -- hundreds of dollars per month. Of course, that includes all models from the newest going back who knows how far. It's a professional shop tool or a rich person's toy.

Suggestion: Subscribe to the Mercedes Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC). It's only $20/year and includes blow-apart drawings. That's not the same as how-to service information, of course, but it's better than nothing.

Suggestion: Find an indy mechanic who has a subscription to the Mercedes service and ask him to print some pages for you. If you are friends, you might get it for free, but offer to pay just the same. A dollar a page would be no worse than the county charges for probate documents and would help the mechanic justify (probably) violating his agreement with Mercedes.

Suggestion: Google European booksellers. They often have books that aren't sold new into the American market. It may not be in English but again, what choice do you have? And you need to expand your mind, learn a foreign language.

Suggestion: Search for non-standard uses of the 606 engine. Maybe a boat manufacturer uses that engine and sells a manual.

Jeremy

Here you go:
http://www.books4cars.com/result3.asp?finddesc=606

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997-Mercedes-Benz-Service-Tech-Repair-Manual-Cd_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34227QQihZ006QQitemZ160176855457QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I'd search eBay, and give the dealer a call. I forget what the FSM for the W210 goes for on DVD form. The W140's is like $170, so its probably around their.

I'd buy the DVD set for $200:
96-2002 E-Class 210 Shop Service Repair Manual Set on DVD 112 engine E320 E420 E430 E55 E500 E 320 430 500 55 E300TD by Mercedes (99_P2700_210_05)

If its like the W126's its got every FSM, so in the long run its cheaper.

I have the "official" MBz FS and its too vague on details ( like the IP!~) to be useful. OK for changing wiper blades, but not for engine diagnostics. I'm calling these guys right now before the market wipes out every penny I own!

I ordered the two manuals I listed guys. I'd be willing to let them out later if anyone needs. PM me.

That's one DVD. I wouldn't buy it for $200, because it is $150 plus tax and shipping if you call 1-800-FOR-MERC.

It does not cover the four-speed transmission (used in 1996).

x2 it has everything you ever wanted to know, and then some, including common problems and step-by-step how to fix them with pictures and diagrams and part numbers.

Well, I just dropped $200 at books for cars for one. $150 from Merc is no longer an option.

By Download did you mean you were able to download the whole Manuals onto your Computer and run them without being connected to the Internet; or that you printed the manuals direct from the website?

Actually it does. The articles on the 722.4 (4-speed) are mixed in with with the 722.5 (5-speed) on the DVD and must be hunted down one by one in the list "Group 27 - Automatic Transmission."
