Running from a bottle..

Is there any harm from running the engine from a bottle under the hood daily? Other than the inconvenience, which I don't mind at all, I don't see any reason this would hurt my car, but I'd like to be sure. I have biodiesel in the main tank that gelled this morning and probably will for the next few, and I don't really want to buy enough diesel to dilute it so it won't gel. I drive about 4 or 5 miles to school in the morning and ran the engine from a bottle of diesel under the hood, and swapped the lines to the main tank before going home.

A fuel trank is a fuel tank. For short runs like you are making, it should not pose a problem.

Just be sure to connect both the supply and return lines to the same source.

Be careful with the quantity vs. distance....I filled a 64oz bottle with veg oil once, (90% full) and went for a drive, only went about 5 miles total....when I got back it was ALMOST all gone. (yes the return line was into the bottle also)

Make sure your bottle is attached securely and protected from allowing any contaminants to get in. It'd be very unfortunate to get water in it or have it spill after hitting a bump.
