W124 87 300DT front springs---are they the same as 300E?

I *vaguely* recall reading that the 87 300DT springs are not the same as 87 300E springs. True? It could be that i read it about another vehicle. Is the diesel engine that much heavier?

i think if your car has a sunroof it uses a different spring, but without sunroof it uses the same spring as a 300E.

I do not think that this is correct

I believe the springs are color coded for various applications: gas 300E. diesel 300D, and I think that there was a coupe as well. All have different front springs. I would search on posts by gxsr becuase I think I remember him posting on this topic and actually including photos of different color coded springs.

How odd that a sunroof would make a difference. I checked the part numbers and they are indeed different.

The additional weight of the roof components would possibly factor.

I believe gsxr had a post about springs. I think that on his website, he may have had a table in a Word document detailing most every part number for all the significant versions of springs - and, sway bars.

They are different. The weight of the diesel engine calls for a stronger spring over the gasser spring.
