Window regulators

Are they interchangable between the 300d's and the cd's?
I need 2 for the coupe's front windows.

Couple of bad rear window regulators on my 116. One of em chatters and the other skips gears. Am wondering how interchangable they are myself. Been advized to grease em well for longevity when they work.

If it is the same part you mentioned in your other thread, omegabenz indicates that it's good for both 123 & 126. Maybe you've already caught that.

yep, I caught that. I also heard earlier today that that was the case, but the same person also said that the part # would start with 123:rolleyes:.
Anyway, it looks like I will be getting the left side, but still need the right.

I have put both a front and rear window regulators from a 1980(?)123 300d into my 1979 W116 300SD they are interchangeable within at least some years.

Chattering regulators may possibly be only the deformation of the base material backing plate. My various 123's had several, all of which are now aligned, cleaned, lubed and back in service.

Remove the suspect regulator from the vehicle and check for obvious tooth and gear damage. Then check alignment.

I did pics in a post on how-to.

Good luck.

It's not just chattering , but locking up with alot of banging. I suspect tooth loss. I will check out your pics and how- to later today. Thanks

Are these hard to do? I have a couple of bad ones on my 123.

Check this thread, post #9. I think its the how-to FRANKENBENZ is talking about.

That's perfect. Thanks, Seth.
