blower motor replacement 1987 300TD
 

hi all,

Im going to replace the blower motor in my moms 1987 300TD with one from my 1987 300D parts car. my mechanic said that it would be a serious job and would involve taking out the dash, etc. is this true? replacing the blower on earlier models is really easy and there is access to the blower motor right under the glove box. does anyone know of a write up on this repair?

Replace blower motor in 1992 300D
 

Hi, Have you started yet? I would like to replace the blower motor in my 1992 300D. I've read that I would have to;

a. remove mono blade the plastic bezel
b. remove center section of false firewall
c. remove wiper motor assembly
d. remove blower motor cover

this seems all well but I would love to have pictures or a diagram of where everything is located. I'm planning on starting this in Mid-February.

Remove the plastic covers around the wiper, between base of windshield and false firewall.
Disconnect feed wires between wiper motor and harness, remove the mounting screws, should be several around wiper head.
Remove the wiper assembly, blade may remain.
You've now exposed the blower housing.
Remove the heater covers, should 2-3 clips on all four sides.
Remove the blower motor clamp, disconnect feed wires to regulator under the blower and remove blower and cages.

Installation is the reverse.

It's all in the factory manual.

I think your mechanic is crazy. This is a very easy job. It is right underneath the wiper assembly. You should be in an out in a little over an hour.

Well, you can get the blower out by removing the dash.....

At least it came out that way in my wife's 95 E320 wagon when I replaced the evaporator.:)

Agreed with above, should take around 1/2hour to remove the blower, slightly more to get it back together, under the wiper motor. Vacuum the heat-sink fingers on the speed controller beneath it while you're in there if it's dirty / dusty.
